The multi-faceted artist Rahul Mukerji brings his artistic ways to this fusion effort where many players join him for the 11 detailed tracks.
“Mr. Sinister” opens with strong attention to mood, where Ruben Rubio’s fretless bass complements Mukerji’a keys and tabla programming with much mystery, as the setting builds powerfully, and “Bheja Fry” follows with density via Rafael Freitas’ bass amid the swirling guitar dynamics.
Halfway through, the title track welcomes Praveen Sparsh’s konnakol and Rahul Krishnan’s flute and tablas alongside expressive singing, while “Funky Pakora” invites Dylan’s clarinet and Emi Romero’s keys to the thick rocker that carries a dreamy backdrop.
Arriving later, “Four Seas” benefits from Chaplin’s graceful keys that complements the ambience and beauty, and “Mutabor” exits with Erkan Erginci’s strategic duduk and Mukerji’s programming in a delivery that’s soulful and stirring.
An album with a truly global appeal, we’re treated to fragments of rock, jazz, progressive and metal in this unique effort that is transcendent.
