Nicky T and his esteemed band flesh out 11 originals here that are indebted to the blues, where plenty of honesty, passion and conviction for the arts are embraced.
“That’s All I Need” opens with Nicky’s soulful pipes alongside Todd Glass’ frisky drums for the warm blues spirit, and “Mistreating Mama” follows with Keith Kaminski’s lively sax that complements the meticulous guitar and animated singing.
Halfway through, “The Glass” enlists Ronnie Earl’s inimitable guitar and Greg Nagy’s unparalleled voice for the powerful moment, while “Thank You Magic Sam” makes great use of Pete Berg’s frisky drums and Frank Greenhalgh’s colorful bass via the swift rocker.
Deeper still, “Lead Me On” illustrates Chris Codish’s meticulous keys and Nicky’s intimate guitar amid Nagy’s emotive singing, and “Life On Life’s Terms” exits with Kurt Crandall’s gripping harmonica and Nicky’s reflective voice for the softer finish.
Homage to B.B. King, Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland, Magic and, of course, Ronnie Earl, won’t be hard to spot here, as Nicky and crew flesh out swingin’ fun, introspection, and slow burners for a timeless blues experience.
