Listen to My Voice

This debut solo album from Laura Chavez brings plenty of soul, rhythm and blues that says much without words via the 10 dynamic tracks.

The thumping and animated “Born On The Bayou” opens with Chavez’s intricate guitar licks alongside Lea Worms’ bright keys, and “Mind Your Step” follows with plenty of rhythm thanks to the playful guitar and bouncy rhythm section.

“El Cascabel” lands in the middle and carries a cinematic quality courtesy of the animated guitar playing and skilled drumming, while “Chinese Checkers” blends the keys, drums, bass and Chavez’s guitar into a mesmerizing climate.

Further still, the bouncy energy of “Napa Street” is full of grooves that will get your body moving, and “La Llorona” exits with Tomek Germann’s meticulous bass that suits the softer delivery of the precise finish.

An exceptional first album, Chavez’s technical prowess, emotional appeal and luminous tone is quite memorable.
