Listen to The Joyful Mysteries

The esteemed American composer Daniel Knaggs leads the Houston Chamber Choir and others through plenty of solos, a choir and an orchestra via these substantial and symphonic selections.

“The Annunciation” opens with Gabriella Reyes’ expressive soprano alongside many stirring and animated strings for both swift and emotional waves, and “The Visitation” follows with the Monarch Chamber Players adding much grace to the harmonic climate.

In the middle, “The Nativity” uses Sarah Mesko’s powerful mezzo-soprano amid a distinct dreaminess, while “The Presentation” benefits much from Kinetic Ensemble’s chamber nods alongside much intimacy and exploration.

“50-Year Ave Maria Project” exits the record, and pairs flowing vocals with a cautious landscape that instills much beauty and timelessness.

A project that’s both touching and dramatic, Knaggs’ vision unfolds with a choral symphony experience that few others could parallel.
