A Letting Go

The indie singer-songwriter and Nashville resident Haley Osier pens an emotive listen that touches on the personal journey and growth as a queer person who abandoned their faith that once served them so well.
The soulful and poetic “Lying” opens the listen with Osier’s forthright wordplay alongside the soft music, and “Still Holding Me Tonight” follows with much attention on mood, as the dreamy backdrop suits the passionate singing.
Landing in the middle, “That’s Why You Leave” blends the warm keys and gentle melodies via Osier’s expressive pipes, while “Three”, the best track, is a lush and busy moment of modern pop that can also retreat to bare moments of intimacy.
Close to the end, “The Fall” starts from a vulnerable position before quickly escalating into atmospheric beauty, and “Don’t Go” exits with a swirling grace and meticulous songwriting that tugs on the heartstrings.
Formerly an Evangelical Christian Leader, the proud lesbian and rising artist pens songs about missing someone who hurt you and sorting through that hurt, and it makes every moment here authentic and touching.
