5/5 Stars
This first album from the Los Angeles outfit finds them delivering driving '90s nostalgia and retro folk sounds with front woman Natalie Carol's unique, dreamy, soaring, yodeling vocals guiding the way. Often fuzzy and powerful, the album has no shortage of grooves and universal appeal, with plenty of guitar solos and thundering melodies, though later on in the listen warm balladry resonates with a timeless feel. Legends like Dinosaur Jr., The Cranberries, Fleetwood Mac, Neko Case and Neil Young all come to mind here, and that alone should be enough reason to pick this remarkable album up.
