Sarah and Blaine are the duo behind Pretty Gritty, and together the pair both sing, play instruments and pen warm, heartfelt Americana with a rougher edge. While the songs are generally filled with sweet vocals that could win reality show competitions, the music varies from dusty country-rock to emotive rootsy rock to indie-folk, where several covers are included, but reinvented in their own cathartic, delicate fashion. Though it wasn't long ago that these two were busking to have their music heard, the well executed melodies and variety of emotions encompassed here will surely mean the obscure days of Pretty Gritty are in the past.
