(Trashy Moped)
4/5 Stars
On their first album in 8 years, the Austin duo make the experience worth the wait as they clash their rock and psyche influences with electronica and disco ideas. An album that defies all categorization, elements of Krautrock, industrial, and house are part of the equation, with a strong emphasis on ambient atmosphere and futuristic noises. While some songs are fuzzed out dance-rock, others could soundtrack a sci-fi flick with their robotic sounds and things get even more interesting on the soulful and funky '70s inspired tracks.
While returning fans will likely see this as a logical extension of these 2 ultra creative minds, new ears may require several listens to really understand and absorb the depth of this 5th album. (Tom Haugen)
