Take Shape
Dine Alone, 2018
7/10
The sophomore album from the San Francisco outfit births more of their retro pop stylings in a very sophisticated version of indie-rock. Though the album leads with keys, it's not long until horns, tambourines and, most importantly, well controlled guitars overtake the listen.
Though there may only be 4 members, there's an impressive density to the well crafted tunes, as each one unfolds with meticulous precision and ultimate lasting power that's timeless, nostalgic and inventive. Somewhere between dream-pop, psyche-rock and with a hint of Brit-pop, this is a band who probably own many albums by The Velvet Underground and The Beach Boys, and we're all better off for it.
