Another great listen from the Philadelphia outfit, and though it's a quick EP, they cover a lot of ground in under 20 minutes. Definitely more on the indie rock side of the equation, there's an irresistible energy here with strategic and alluring melodies while the band spread their wings a bit with Americana, blues and a crisp soulful spirit to their '90s rock energy.
Front woman Mariel Beaumont's shimmering, pretty vocals will make you want to dig out your Sleater-Kinney records, and though relationships are often part of the subject matter, it's all delivered very eloquently and sophisticatedly, both lyrically and musically. The EP ends on “Home”, which might be their best tune yet, where driving guitars and memorable songwriting meet in an indie-rock masterpiece.
