Bad Bad Hats
Lightning Round

5/5 Stars
Three years ago I reviewed the debut album from this Minneapolis outfit, and at about the same time I came to the realization that Bad Bad Hats would eventually be a big big deal. Well, with this 2nd album, that time should be about now, as this power-pop and refined version of indie-folk is nothing short of a masterpiece.
A generally louder, fuller effort, while Kerry Alexander's pristine vocals still sound younger than her years, the band sound more mature, more confident and even experiment with their talents with glorious melodies and a healthy amount of synth. One of, if not the best indie-pop bands today, there will probably be a time when Bad Bad Hats will be spoken in the same sentence as Soul Asylum, The Replacements and The Jayhawks as legendary music from the Twin Cities.
